Criminal Record Checks
The criminal records that are within the jurisdiction of General Sessions court are
the warrants, indictments, sentence sheets, bond papers and other related documents
that have been filed with the Greenville County Clerk of Court.
General Sessions Court hears cases that are felonies or higher court cases. The Clerk
of Court's office does not maintain records for charges that are within the jurisdiction
of Magistrates Court, also known as Summary Court. These charges are usually referred
to as misdemeanors or lower court cases.
Because our records do not include magistrate court cases, the Clerk of Court's staff
does not do a "certified records check". However, for individuals or businesses who wish
to do their own search for felony records, we do have our records on a public computer
terminal and also index books on convictions in General Sessions court that are available
during regular business hours. Indexes containing criminal records can now also be accessed
online at www.13th-judicial-circuit.org.
If you need a "certified records check", you can contact the Records Division at the Law
Enforcement Center on how to obtain one. The number to call is 864.467.5278.
