What agency can help me with a loved one that has Alzheimer's Disease?

Answer:

You can contact Community Long Term Care at 864.242.2211. This agency conducts home visit evaluations to determine the needs of the patient. They try to provide alternatives to hospitalization and make the final assessment if a nursing home is necessary. If the patient is to continue living at home they can provide the family with personal care for the home. They can also advise families of day care centers and day programs for patients with Alzheimer's.

Can I have a loved one committed that is presently incarcerated in the Detention Center?

Answer:

The Probate Court cannot arrange to have anyone examined who is in the custody of the Greenville County Detention Center. Contact the Detention Center at 467.2422 for assistance.

Question:

How can I have a loved one committed for mental illness?

Answer:

You must contact the mental health center for a pre-commitment screening. If by talking with you, the mental health center would like to examine the patient, they will send you to the Probate Court with the commitment application. The court will issue an Order of Detention at this time. This order will instruct the Law Enforcement officials to pick up the patient and to transport him/her to the mental health center for evaluation for commitment.

Answer:

You will need to contact the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs in Columbia, South Carolina at 803.737.6458 for a screening. The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs will contact the Probate Court and inform the court if an examination for commitment is necessary.

Answer:

The Greater Greenville Mental Health Center offers services to individuals living outdoors or in a shelter, and having a serious and persistent mental illness. The services include outreach, screening, assessment, case management and other supportive services, psychiatric, and nursing services.
