Telecommunicator of the Year
Celebrating one of our incredible dispatchers, Ursula Hellams, for being named telecommunicator of the Year by the South Carolina EMS Association.
This recognition reflects the dedication and life-saving impact our telecommunicators bring to every call. We are proud to have Ursula as part of our
team and are grateful for the works she does behind the scenes to serve our community every day.
Heroes
Not all heroes wear capes… some carry oxygen masks for four-legged patients. Recently, two of our GCEMS paramedics Carolin C. and Brittany Y.
stepped in during a house fire and did everything they could to save a life, including one with paws. By quickly administering oxygen,
they were able to help revive a dog affected by smoke inhalation. Thank you to our paramedics and GCEMS staff for their excellent hard work!
South Carolina Palmetto Award Winner
When every second counts, a calm and steady voice can make all the difference.
For years, Oliva has been that voice — guiding callers through emergencies with compassion, focus, and professionalism.
She recently received the Palmetto Award, recognizing excellence in South Carolina’s emergency communications field.
