The Boiling Springs Fire District is a special purpose district fire control board responsible for procuring and maintaining firefighting equipment and training volunteer firefighters to provide fire protection services within the district.
The board consists of five (5) members appointed by the Governor upon recommendation of Greenville County Council. Members serve for four (4) year staggered terms and reside within the geographical boundaries of the district. Board members serve without pay and must file an annual report with County Council, not later than November 1st of each year, showing all activities and disbursements made by the board during the year.
Power and duties
The board has the following duties:
- Buy firefighting equipment within the money allocated or available to the board to control fires.
- Select a site within the area where the firefighting equipment will be housed.
- To provide and select drivers and volunteer firemen to staff equipment, and paid, full-time firefighters.
- To procure and supervise training of volunteer firemen and paid, full-time firefighters.
- To upkeep, maintain, inspect, and repair trucks and firefighting equipment.
- To establish rules and regulations for equipment use.
- To construct a building to house the equipment.
